• Prince William recently appeared on sports star Peter Crouch's podcast, and relayed a gifting anecdote.
  • Apparently, early on in his courtship with future wife Kate Middleton, he gifted her an "awful" gift: a pair of binoculars.
  • Middleton has apparently "never let him forget" it.

Listen, we'll be the first to admit that it's not always easy know what to get your significant other. Heck, we wrote an extremely thorough article of "Best Gifts For Her That She’ll Actually Love This Year" because we know that finding the right gift for the woman in your life can be tough. Especially since every one of us has fallen prey to a confidently impulsive, "Oh, she'll love this" that she most certainly did not love.

As it turns out, that's not just true of us non-royal schmoes. Prince William may have ultimately won the heart of Kate Middleton, whom he married in 2011 and with whom he has three children. But though William is a devoted soccer fan and player, when it comes to love, you can't call him a "player," 'cause the Prince has got no game!

Note: The entire team at Best Products would like to apologize for the above pun, and the long walk it took to get there. We regret that it ever went to print, and we promise to do better in the future.

Prince William recently appeared on former England striker Peter Crouch's podcast, and as The Mirror notes, he had a little anecdote about "striking out" when it comes to finding the right gift for Kate.

Though William was there mostly to discuss his love of soccer—naturally calling it football—he was prompted to pull back the curtain on his romantic life when host Crouch "confessed to buying his model wife Abbey Clancy a raincoat three years running for her birthday."

Prince William retorted that, "I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once—she's never let me forget that. That was early on in the courtship that was—I think that sealed the deal." He notes that "it didn't go well," and gave his reasoning for buying the gift in the first place as, "Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars, it seemed like a good idea at the time."

Now, that's a pretty relatable sentiment. It makes Prince William, and the royals as a whole, seem pretty relatable, and even likable. And it takes our mind off of all the drama in the tabloids. So good job, William. Now all you have to do is not blow that good will by, like, bestowing a high honor upon a guy who accused your sister-in-law of bullying, in a manner that seems like a petty swipe against your brother and said sister-in-law. As long as you don't do that, you're all set ... oh, come on, man.
