More often than not, some of our favorite buys are small, how-didn’t-I-know-about-this products that solve an everyday problem. That’s what we’re highlighting in our Little Lifesavers series: cheap, simple purchases that you’ll use on the daily. Hit “Add to Cart” and thank us later!

Problem: Rotating through a wilting cadre of free, flimsy one-size-fits-all hotel slippers wasn’t cutting it during quarantine, especially in a two-story house with hardwood floors. In short: My feet hurt.

Solution: isotoner Slide Slippers with supportive soles.

After months of long pandemic walks and a few weeks of putting off said walks due to soreness in my soles, I decided I needed a house slipper with arch support. And wearing shoes from the street into the house? Well, that’s gross even when there isn’t a pandemic.

I'd been getting by during 2020’s Sisyphean indoor hours in my hardwood- and tile-floored two-story house either barefoot or with a rotation of old hotel slippers of varying degrees of flatness. You know, the ones that are “one size fits all,” whether you’re a small-footed tween or a professional basketball player. So it was time to upgrade. I’d already refreshed the pillows on the couch, so why not extend that comfort to my own body?

I found the Space Dyed Andrea Slide Slipper isotoners, and they fit the bill (and helped relieve my sore feet). Nothing extravagant in looks nor in price, and excellent reviews. These are super soft, moisture-wicking, and comfortable — warm in the winter and not too hot in the summer, except during the worst days of a heat wave. And during a cold snap? Socks! Felt great. I wasn’t existing to be fashionable. But you can choose from blue or gray if you want to really go wild.

The furthest I’ve worn them outside the house has been to get the mail and to check if the neighbors accidentally have ours. That’s it. And I’m rarely without them inside the house. Cooking? Cleaning? Endless games of Tetris on my Switch? Slippers! The arch support has held up well over the past 6 months that I’ve owned them. I’ve typed about half of this review from a standing position. I always wear the slippers when doing so — it gives me extra padding whether I’m on the hardwood floor or on a rubber mat.

My feet don't hurt anymore, and the slippers' soles, while sturdy, are not super loud on either tile or hardwood — so I know at least the walking part of my night-owl tendencies won't wake anyone up. I plan to keep these until they fall apart, and at under $20, it won't be a trial to replace them when they do.
