We know and love OtterBox for its protective iPhone cases. But while Apple has been improving the battery life of the newest iPhones, OtterBox has been busy upgrading its power products, too. Not all Lightning cables and wall chargers are made the same, with different outputs affecting charging quality and speeds; depending on the power output, charging can be slow and your phone might not retain power. That's where OtterBox has swiftly saved the day.

OtterBox claims your phone can go from a dead battery to 70% in less than 30 minutes.

For the last few weeks, I've been testing out OtterBox's Premium Pro Fast Charge Lightning Cable paired with the Premium Pro Fast Charge USB-C Wall Charger. I have been seriously impressed with the speed of how the charging combo boosts my phone's battery, and how well my phone retains the charge.

I'll break down the details of the charging combo below, but here's the TL;DR: OtterBox claims your phone can go from a dead battery to 70% in less than 30 minutes. The claim rings true. While I typically don’t let my phone get totally to 0%, I’ve let the charger take my 12% battery up to about 50% in roughly 20 minutes, and to full capacity in about 40 minutes.

Let's start with the USB-C Wall Charger. It has a 72-watt output, which is extremely powerful (honestly, more than what your phone requires). The 72-watt model has two USB-C ports (30-watt/60-watt) as well as a USB-A port (12-watt). You can safely charge more than one device at a time, and the wall plug uses intelligent power charging, meaning it will automatically deliver the appropriate amount of power based on the device and cable you're using. The outlet prongs fold so it's easy to pack. Plus, the GaN design is compact, so if you're using it in a multiport power strip, it keeps adjacent outlets clear for use.

The Lightning cable measures 2 meters (or 6.6 feet), letting you access your charger from your bed, your desk, and just about anywhere. It has a braided nylon exterior and

features a magnetic cable clip to keep it organized and tangle-free when you’re not using it. It offers up to a 60-watt power delivery, so if you’re charging an iPad or iPhone, you’ll be able to access the maximum capacity (which is up to 20 watts). In other words, it offers a charge that’s up to four times faster than the average Lightning cable.

Depending on your needs, you can snag a 30-watt, 60-watt, or 72-watt wall charger, each of which offers different ports for your charging cables. The 72-watt option is my recommendation since you can charge multiple devices simultaneously (plus, it has the USB-A outlet that your older cables may still use). It’s the first wall plug I reach for these days, and I love that the plug can handle charging my iPhone, iPad, and laptop. If you’re not an iOS user, it’s also compatible with Android and Google devices.
